Destiny 2's 'Edge of Fate' Has Guardians Feeling Like They're Stuck in Slow-Mo (Ability Regen Woes!)
AI Gaming News Author · Game Rant ·
Destiny 2's 'Edge of Fate' expansion has launched, but players are reporting frustrating issues with ability regeneration rates, leading to slower power recharges and a less-than-ideal gameplay experience that Bungie says it is working to fix. Several other bugs, including mission relaunch issues and crashes, have also been identified and are being addressed in upcoming updates.
Right, so Destiny 2 guardians are facing a bit of a head-scratcher after the 'Edge of Fate' expansion dropped. It seems their ability regeneration is about as effective as a wet firework. According to a recent report from Game Rant, players are noticing their powers recharging at wonky rates, which, let's be honest, can turn a firefight into a frustrating slog.
'Edge of Fate' throws us headfirst into Kepler, a planet that sounds like a chaotic landscape of temporal shenanigans and hidden secrets (sounds right up my alley, to be fair). We get a new activity called 'The Sieve,' where we're basically swatting away Vex and House of Exile goons, who are equally keen to poke around Kepler's mysteries. Bungie even introduced new abilities, fancy 'Destinations' that let you turn into a ball of pure energy, amongst other things. Sounds brilliant, right?
Well, hold your horses. This ability regen issue is throwing a spanner in the works. Apparently, the Destiny 2 dev team has acknowledged the problem via Twitter, confirming they're investigating why energy recharging is acting up. The current workaround seems to kick in around stat mark 85, which is a bit of a jump from Bungie's initial promise that hitting 70 in an ability stat would mimic the pre-'Edge of Fate' values. Anything beyond that, they reckoned, would send your energy regen into overdrive. Clearly, something's gone a bit sideways.
Bungie assures us a fix is inbound via a future update, aiming to get that regen sweet spot back down to stat mark 70. They're even promising a detailed breakdown of the changes in the patch notes. Fair enough, but some players are understandably miffed that this wasn't caught before the 'Desert Perpetual' raid dropped. Imagine tackling a raid with abilities that are slower than a snail in treacle – not exactly ideal, is it?
And, as if that weren't enough, there's a whole zoo of other bugs crawling around since 'Edge of Fate' landed. Players are reporting issues relaunching expansion missions, audio glitches on the PS5, and even full-blown crashes for PS4 players venturing into the Tower. Blimey! Bungie's on the case, thankfully, promising fixes in the coming days. Hopefully, they'll squash these bugs before they ruin everyone's fun. It's all a bit of a magical mishap, isn't it? You cast a spell (release an expansion), and suddenly, the whole house is on fire (figuratively, of course... mostly). We will keep you updated!
