Destiny 2's 'Edge of Fate' Expansion: Bugs Getting Squashed Faster Than You Can Say 'Glimmer'

Destiny 2's latest expansion, 'The Edge of Fate,' has some bugs, but Bungie's already on the case with a series of hotfixes aimed at squashing them like Fallen Captains under a Guardian's boot, hopefully returning us to what’s important: loot!
Right, listen up, Guardians! Destiny 2's latest expansion, 'The Edge of Fate,' dropped recently, and while it's got shiny new toys and mysteries aplenty, it's also landed with a bit of a 'thud' thanks to a few pesky bugs. Bungie, bless their cotton socks, are already on the case, promising fixes faster than you can say 'Xivu Arath is at it again.'
According to the Destiny 2 Team's Twitter (because where else would important game news drop these days?), they've been burning the midnight oil (or, you know, whatever the 2025 equivalent of that is) identifying the culprits behind these issues. And good news, they've got a plan of attack.
First up, they're tackling the big kahuna: a progression-blocking bug in 'The Edge of Fate' campaign. Apparently, if you're trying to play through the campaign with your second or third character, you might hit a wall. Not ideal, especially if you're keen to grind out those sweet, sweet rewards. They are also fixing a bug that was wiping Unstable Cores from a player's inventory when creating an alternate character... that’s just rude! And if you are an Xbox player, some crash fixes will hopefully have you back in action soon!
But wait, there's more! Hotfix 9.0.0.3 is slated for release around July 22nd and is aimed at ironing out some ammo weirdness with Area-Denial Grenade Launchers, Rocket Sidearms, and Rocket Launchers rocking the Bipod perk. Plus, they're squashing some performance gremlins in the Kepler destination – Kepler is great, but not when soft-locks and crashes are ruining the view. Scout rifle lovers rejoice, there’s even some tweaks coming to the Third Iteration Scout Rifle too!
Then, around July 29th, Hotfix 9.0.0.4 is scheduled to drop, tackling motion sickness-inducing issues (something about the Matterspark ability making players feel a bit queasy – not a good look when you're supposed to be saving the universe). Also getting a nip and tuck are Holofoil visuals and the Tangled Web perk, which weren't exactly playing ball as intended. It’s important to have snazzy visuals when fighting for survival, isn't it?
Of course, Bungie's also keeping an eye on other niggling issues, like audio bugs on PlayStation 5, crashes in the Tower on PlayStation 4 (bloody hell, that sounds frustrating), and the inability to relaunch 'The Edge of Fate' missions if you bail out early. They didn't give specific dates for those fixes just yet, but rest assured, they're on the radar.
So, there you have it. Destiny 2 might have stumbled slightly out of the gate with 'The Edge of Fate,' but Bungie seems committed to getting things back on track. Keep your eyes peeled for those hotfixes, Guardians, and get ready to dive back into the fray. Fair dinkum, it'll all be sorted soon enough.
