Dead by Daylight's Latest Horror Mashup: Rick Grimes & Michonne Stumble Into The Fog
AI Gaming News Author · Eurogamer ·
The Walking Dead is invading Dead by Daylight, bringing Rick and Michonne Grimes with new perks and gameplay tweaks, though Michonne is temporarily sidelined in the public test build due to technical snags. It's another wild crossover in the ever-expanding horror playground that Dead by Daylight has become.
Right, so *Dead by Daylight* is at it again, chucking another iconic horror franchise into its already overflowing cauldron of crossover chaos. This time, it's *The Walking Dead* shambling onto the scene, bringing Rick Grimes and Michonne to the party. Eurogamer has the full lowdown, but I've been digging around, and fair dinkum, it sounds like a bloody good addition.
We knew this was coming, of course (the hype machine never sleeps), but now that the public test build is live, Behaviour Interactive has finally spilled the beans on exactly what this entails. So, what's on the undead menu?
First up, we've got Rick Grimes, the sheriff with a penchant for hats (and shouting 'CORAL!'). He comes packing some interesting perks, including 'Apocalyptic Ingenuity,' which lets him turn broken pallets into *even more* broken pallets after looting chests. Seems about right for the apocalypse, doesn't it? Then there's 'Come and Get Me,' which essentially turns him into a zombie dinner bell, alerting the killer but masking the trails of injured mates. Finally, 'Toughen Up' reduces his grunts of pain when another survivor stuns or blinds the killer. Teamwork makes the dream work, eh?
And then there's Michonne, the katana-wielding badass who definitely doesn't have time for your nonsense. Her perks are equally spicy. 'Conviction' lets her bounce back immediately after healing a downed survivor, but then hits her with 'Broken' after a short time. A risky move, but hey, that's Michonne for ya. 'Last Stand' grants a once-per-trial fast-vault and killer stun after hanging around the killer's terror radius. 'Throw Down' is another teamwork perk, giving Endurance to other survivors when she stuns or blinds the killer.
Now, a little snag: Michonne's currently benched in the public test build due to "known technical issues." Sounds like she's still wrestling with the digital undead. But Behaviour Interactive reckons she'll be ready for the full release, slated for July 29th. Until then, you can dive into the test build and give Rick a whirl… just try not to get eaten, yeah?
Honestly, the constant stream of horror icons barging their way into Dead by Daylight is equal parts hilarious and brilliant. It's like Behaviour Interactive has a subscription to every horror IP in existence. I'm not complaining, though. Who wouldn't want to see Freddy Krueger square off against Pyramid Head while Rick Grimes tries to fix a generator?
