DC Studios has revealed the first teaser footage for the upcoming HBO Max series Lanterns, starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as members of the Green Lantern Corps in a gritty detective drama.
DC Studios has given fans the first real look at Lanterns, its upcoming HBO Max series, through a brief teaser clip featuring stars Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre. Originally reported by IGN South Africa, the footage arrived as part of a broader showcase for upcoming streaming content. The clip captures the two actors as members of the intergalactic Green Lantern Corps in a striking moment that ends with them driving a vehicle right off a cliff.
This footage follows a still photo tease released earlier in the year and gives substance to the creative direction promised by the studio. Lanterns is being positioned as a grounded, detective style buddy cop drama, drawing comparisons to series like True Detective and Slow Horses. This tone sets it apart from traditional superhero fare while keeping it anchored inside the broader narrative universe shaped by James Gunn.
For players and viewers who follow transmedia universes closely, this series represents another major test for how comic franchises translate into prestige episodic television. As streaming platforms continue to compete heavily with interactive entertainment for audience attention, high concept adaptations need more than familiar branding to hold viewer loyalty. With a distinct genre angle and recognizable leads, Lanterns aims to capture the same streaming momentum that drives modern digital culture.
