Dave the Diver is shaking up its core formula for the upcoming In the Jungle DLC

Mintrocket's upcoming In the Jungle DLC for Dave the Diver completely overhauls the game's core systems, trading the Blue Hole for a freshwater lake, introducing a flexible 12-hour time management system, and replacing Bancho Sushi with a grill that caters to a brand new village of locals.

Mintrocket is returning to its breakout hit with a brand new expansion that aims to flip the script on how players spend their time. In a recent interview with Polygon, CEO and game director Jaeho Hwang explained that the upcoming In the Jungle DLC, scheduled to launch on June 18, is designed to feel less like a minor add-on and more like a full spin-off. Instead of sticking to the familiar mechanics of the original game, the developer made the bold choice to overhaul foundational systems to give veterans a genuinely fresh challenge. The update moves Dave away from the coastal waters of the Blue Hole and drops him into a freshwater jungle lake featuring an ancient underwater civilization, new aquatic species, and a brand new culinary focus at Bancho Grill.

The shift in setting brings major changes to day-to-day gameplay loops and time management. In the base game, players balanced distinct blocks of time between diving and running the sushi restaurant, but the DLC introduces a flexible 12-hour daily pool that lets players choose how to divide their schedule between exploring Utara Village and hitting the water. Because freshwater fish require cooking rather than raw preparation, the restaurant dynamic shifts from a passive evening routine to a proactive hustle where Dave must build relationships with wary locals to bring them through the doors. Along the way, players will encounter familiar faces like the digital card collector Sato alongside new companions, including a stray puppy named Marone who helps hunt for fresh ingredients in the forest.

Clocking in at an estimated 10 hours, the expansion represents a significant milestone for Mintrocket as they look to expand the universe of their hit title beyond event-style crossovers. Hwang noted that the team carefully balanced pacing and mini-games to avoid player fatigue while weaving storytelling directly into the new mechanics. For a game that became a massive community favorite through word-of-mouth and creator streaming, this substantial content drop offers a great reason for players to dive back in.
