Animation and gaming communities have long shared a deep visual language, and the newly released official trailer for Another World highlights a striking dark fantasy aesthetic that is sure to catch the eye of modern players. Directed by Tommy Ng Kai Chung and written and produced by Polly Yeung Po Man alongside veteran producer Chan Gin Kai, the film is set to hit theaters in North America on June 5, 2026, presented in its original Cantonese with English subtitles. Based on the novel SENNENKI by Naka Saijo and published by Tokuma Shoten Publishing Co., Ltd., the project brings together emerging Hong Kong creative talent to deliver a visually arresting fantasy experience.
The narrative centers on Gudo, a Soul Keeper tasked with guiding human souls into their next life. After befriending a young girl named Yuri, Gudo discovers that her untimely death left her burdened with a dangerous curse of unresolved rage and regret. As Yuri teeters on the edge of complete annihilation, Gudo must navigate a perilous journey to prevent her from unleashing catastrophic destruction across both the human world and the spirit realm. The film blends high stakes action with a poignant emotional core that explores themes of forgiveness, reconciliation, and the heavy toll of despair.
