Cyberpunk 2077 Modder Resurrects Cut Police Gunship From 2013 Teaser Trailer

A talented Cyberpunk 2077 modder has brought a cut police gunship from the game's 2013 teaser trailer back to life, complete with a custom unlock quest and fully functioning weaponry.

Modding communities continue to squeeze new life out of finished games, and Cyberpunk 2077 remains a prime example of player dedication. Modder Oranje3 has successfully resurrected a cut police gunship that originally appeared in the game's famous 2013 teaser trailer. Known as the NCPD Night Hunter, this armed aerial vehicle gives players a taste of the flying transport focus that CD Projekt initially envisioned before pivoting to ground-based transit in the final release.

What makes this release stand out is the sheer level of polish involved. As reported by Rock Paper Shotgun, the Night Hunter does not just rely on standard flight mods. It features a custom HUD, unique animations, and a fully functional arsenal that includes front-mounted machine guns, a missile launcher, and EMP countermeasures. It even has the amusing hazard of setting nearby pedestrians on fire if you hover too low.

Oranje3 did not stop at dropping the vehicle into the world. The mod comes with a custom quest that begins out in the abandoned town of Rocky Ridge in the Badlands, sending players on a shard hunt across Night City before they can claim the vehicle. To get it running on PC, players will need the Phantom Liberty expansion alongside standard framework tools like Cyber Engine Tweaks and ArchiveXL. It is another reminder of how modders often bridge the gap between early developer ambitions and the final product.
