An official store listing suggests that one of the highest-rated indie games of 2026, Mewgenics, is heading to Xbox Series X/S consoles in the near future.
One of the standout indie titles of 2026 is apparently expanding its reach beyond PC. According to a fresh storefront listing spotted by Game Rant, tactical strategy RPG Mewgenics has surfaced on the Xbox Store, pointing to an upcoming port for current generation consoles. The store page indicates that the game is heading to Xbox Series X/S with full achievement support and keyboard and mouse compatibility.
While neither Microsoft nor developer Edmund McMillen has issued an official announcement yet, the appearance of a functioning store page usually means a shadow drop or a proper release date reveal is right around the corner. Interestingly, the listing notes that Nicalis is attached as the publisher for this version. This detail has caught the attention of long time followers given past friction between the publisher and the veteran developer.
For players who primarily game on console, this potential release is a major win. Mewgenics has dominated community discussions and streaming platforms since its debut, combining deep tactical mechanics with the signature dark humor of its creators. Bringing the game to Xbox platforms opens up one of the year's best experiences to a whole new audience of strategy and RPG fans.
