Crimson Desert Pushes Charting the Unknown Expansion Back by Two Weeks

Pearl Abyss has delayed the first Crimson Desert expansion, Charting the Unknown, by two weeks to October 29 to ensure a more polished experience.

Pearl Abyss has announced a brief delay for Charting the Unknown, the upcoming first major expansion for Crimson Desert. Originally slated to launch on October 15, the add-on will now arrive two weeks later on October 29. According to a statement shared by the development team, the extra fortnight is necessary to ensure a stable and polished experience for players heading back into the continent of Pywel.

First revealed during a Sony State of Play showcase in September, the expansion packs a substantial amount of new content for the $24.99 price tag. Players will gain access to naval exploration and underwater adventures, alongside fresh storylines following characters like Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane. The add-on also introduces new gameplay loops, including an upgraded house-building system, property management for passive in-game cash, and expanded NPC relationship mechanics.

While schedule slips are always disappointing for a community eager for new content, a two-week polish phase is a reasonable trade-off if it secures a smoother launch. The expansion is planned for all major versions of the game, though players on the Mac App Store version will need to note the current platform exclusions. As always, keeping expectations in check while studios tune their final builds helps ensure day-one stability across PC and console platforms.
