Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe shared a progress update for Haunted Chocolatier, noting that he is making strong headway and already enjoying the unfinished build, though a release window remains unannounced.
For anyone keeping a close eye on indie development, the ongoing wait for Haunted Chocolatier is a familiar exercise in patience. Eric Barone, better known as ConcernedApe, recently posted a fresh progress report on the official Haunted Chocolatier website to update the community on the status of his highly anticipated follow up to Stardew Valley. While there is still no official release window in sight, the developer noted that he has been very productive lately and is actively enjoying the game in its current unfinished state.
Building on the massive community goodwill earned from years of stellar post-launch support for Stardew Valley, Barone emphasized that his primary development goal remains personal creative fulfillment. In his blog post, he shared that recent additions to the project have made the unpolished build genuinely fun to play, which bodes well for the final experience. He aims to deliver a title he can be proud of, and while fans are naturally eager for gameplay trailers or beta dates, the assurance that the solo developer is energized by the project is a positive sign.
As modern gaming continues to lean heavily into fast-paced live service roadmaps and early access cycles, the deliberate pacing of a solo indie project stands out. Haunted Chocolatier may still be a ways off, but the transparency from ConcernedApe reinforces why community-first indie development retains such a loyal following across PC and console platforms. Players will just need to give the developer a bit more time to cook up something special.
