The 1985 classic adventure film The Goonies is now available to stream for free on Pluto TV, offering a great watch for gamers looking for background entertainment during long sessions.
If you are looking for something to watch on your second screen while grinding out your latest battle pass or waiting in a long matchmaking queue, you might want to cue up a true classic. As reported by Polygon, the 1985 beloved adventure film The Goonies is now officially free to stream on Pluto TV. Even decades after its original theatrical release, the movie remains an absolute gold standard for the kids on a quest genre.
The film follows a tight knit group of neighborhood friends who discover an ancient pirate map in an attic and set off on an underground treasure hunt to save their homes from foreclosure. What keeps the movie relevant and entertaining for modern audiences is how genuine the young cast feels. Instead of polished action heroes, the characters argue constantly, panic under pressure, and make terrible decisions, creating a natural chemistry that clearly inspired modern hits like Stranger Things.
Whether you are watching it for the first time or revisiting it for pure nostalgia, it is a fun piece of entertainment history that holds up surprisingly well. You can check out the full feature and read more about Steven Spielberg and Richard Donner's collaborative impact over at Polygon.
