Civilization 7's Auto-Explore is Back, Baby! (No More Micro-Managing Those Scouts!)

Civilization 7 is bringing back auto-explore in its next update, meaning less tedious scout micro-management and more time for world domination, plus smoother transitions between Ages, sounds like Firaxis is actually listening to player feedback (finally!).
Right, listen up, Civ fanatics! Remember spending hours in the early game of *Civilization 7*, manually moving your scouts around, trying to uncover the map like you're Indiana Jones with a dodgy GPS? Well, those days are (almost) over! According to Game Rant, Firaxis is bringing back a classic feature: auto-explore. Hallelujah!
Seriously, *Civilization 7* had a bit of a rocky launch, didn't it? Some folks reckoned it was missing a few key ingredients from previous iterations. (Missing auto-explore? Bloody hell, that's like forgetting the rum in a pirate's grog!). It did pop up on the Nintendo Switch 2 recently, giving it a bit of a boost, but still... a few crucial elements were absent.
But hold your horses, because Update 1.2.3, slated for release around July 20th, will reintroduce this glorious mechanic. Now you can set your scouts (and apparently 'other eligible units,' whatever they are) to automatically wander off into the great unknown. They'll only stop when they stumble upon Discoveries (fancy!) or the borders of those pesky civilizations that won't give you right of passage. Sounds like a wizard's dream, doesn't it?
But what does this *mean*? Well, mate, it means less tedious clicking and more time to focus on the important stuff, like planning world domination (or, you know, a cultural victory if you're feeling particularly pacifistic). No more painstakingly plotting every move of your scout unit like it’s a chess game against a particularly dull opponent. It speeds up the early game no end.
And that's not all! Firaxis is also smoothing out the transitions between Ages. *Civilization 7* only has three – Antiquity, Exploration, and Modern – which is fewer than we're used to. Apparently, leaping between them can cause a bit of a jolt, so they're adding a 10-turn countdown timer. Think of it as a 'brace for impact' warning before the future hits you in the face. Plus, relationships between leaders should evolve more smoothly. Hopefully, that means fewer sudden declarations of war because someone looked at you funny.
Oh, and one more thing: a new commander is on the way! Trung Nhi, a Vietnamese military leader from the first century, will be available for players controlling her sister, Trung Trac. (Sibling rivalry, anyone?) She'll come with her own unique character model and artwork. All in all, it sounds like Firaxis is listening to the fans and trying to iron out some of the wrinkles in *Civilization 7*. And that's always a good thing, isn't it?
