Christopher Nolan is continuing his history with Epic Games by bringing his new film, The Odyssey, to Fortnite with a digital Matt Damon skin and movie tie-in events.
Epic Games is expanding its Hollywood crossover history by bringing Christopher Nolan's upcoming summer blockbuster, The Odyssey, straight into the battle royale. Revealed via a teaser on the official Fortnite X account, the upcoming in-game event features a digital likeness of Matt Damon as Odysseus, wandering through distinctly Greek environments and recreating scenes from the film trailers. More details are expected to drop alongside the movie's theatrical release this weekend.
This marks the second video game tie-in for the film, following a free themed mode that launched in Roblox earlier in July. Nolan has a surprisingly deep history with interactive media and Epic Games specifically. Back in 2020, the second trailer for Tenet premiered inside Fortnite, followed closely by a digital movie night event that let players screen classics like Inception and The Prestige directly within the game world.
The Odyssey hits theaters on July 17, boasting a star-studded cast that includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson alongside Damon. For players, these massive transmedia events have become a standard part of the live service experience, turning games into virtual premiere venues. Original reporting comes from Willa Rowe at Polygon, with further details available in their full coverage.
