Chaos Dwarfs are BACK, Baby! Hashut's Helsmiths Forge a Path of Mayhem in Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin

IGN South Africa dropped a trailer revealing the Chaos Dwarfs (rebranded as the Helsmiths of Hashut) are charging into *Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin*, promising a fiery, heavily armored, and mechanically inclined faction for players to conquer (or be conquered by). Expect explosions, little beardy blokes, and a whole lotta trouble!
Right, so Games Workshop just dropped a trailer – courtesy of the folks over at IGN South Africa – for a new faction stomping its way into *Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin*, and bloody hell, it's the Chaos Dwarfs! Or, as they're calling them, "The Helsmiths of Hashut."
Now, I know what you're thinking: "Jeff, haven't those grumpy little blighters been missing in action for ages?" And you'd be right, mate. The Chaos Dwarfs, or rather, the *Dwarfs of Chaos* as they were once known in Warhammer Fantasy Battles, haven't really had a major presence in the Age of Sigmar setting... until now, it seems. Looks like Hashut, their dark god of fire and industry, has been stoking the forges again, and he's spitting out a whole new breed of heavily armored, daemon-engine obsessed warriors.
The trailer itself (go give IGN South Africa a watch, yeah?) doesn't give away *too* much. We get glimpses of heavily armored infantry, some seriously nasty-looking artillery pieces, and what looks like some kind of infernal war machine belching smoke and fire. It's all very… chaotic. In a dwarf-y, organized, ruthlessly efficient kind of way. (Does that even make sense? Don't answer that).
But what does this all MEAN for *Realms of Ruin*? Well, it's safe to assume that the Helsmiths will be a playable faction. Given their aesthetic, expect a gameplay style focused on ranged firepower, heavily armored units that are tough as nails, and some devastating area-of-effect abilities. Imagine a slow, grinding advance of heavily armed legionaries supported by artillery that can level entire city blocks. Sounds like a right laugh, doesn't it? (Assuming you're on *their* side, of course.)
Of course, this announcement also raises a few interesting questions. Will this new iteration of the Chaos Dwarfs be a faithful adaptation of their old lore, or will they be something completely new? Will they retain their reliance on slave labor? (Probably not, Games Workshop has been trying to steer clear of overtly problematic elements lately, fair play). And most importantly, will they have awesome hats? (I'm putting my money on a resounding 'yes'.)
*Realms of Ruin* is shaping up to be a pretty interesting addition to the Age of Sigmar universe. With the addition of the Chaos Dwarfs - sorry, Helsmiths - it looks like we're in for a whole lot of fire, brimstone, and good old-fashioned dwarven engineering.
Keep your eyes peeled for more news on this as it develops. And remember: when in doubt, always aim for the knees. Even Chaos Dwarfs have weak points. (Probably.)
