CD Projekt Red has partnered with the creator of the popular HD Rework Project mod to integrate community-driven visual upgrades directly into the upcoming Witcher 3 Remaster.
CD Projekt Red is taking a page straight out of the community playbook for the upcoming release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered. The studio has officially enlisted HalkHogan, the creator behind the massively popular HD Rework Project mod, to help elevate the visual fidelity of the classic RPG. The modder shared the update on Nexus Mods, confirming that their extensive texture and asset overhauls are being integrated directly into the official release across PC and consoles.
This collaboration means players will no longer need to download fan made texture packs to get the absolute best visual experience out of the game. HalkHogan noted that almost all in-game characters, monsters, vegetation, and equipment have received official touchups. By bringing community talent directly into the development pipeline, CD Projekt Red is acknowledging the massive role that dedicated modding communities play in keeping classic titles alive and thriving long after launch.
The remaster was officially unveiled during gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 alongside a surprise new expansion titled Songs of the Past. Set to launch on September 29 for PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, the updated package gives both returning fans and new players a definitive way to experience the adventure. It is a smart move that bridges the gap between official development and grassroots creator culture, ensuring the next generation of players gets the best possible version of the game.
