The theatrical release of Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution brings the massive Shibuya Incident recap and the first two episodes of season 3 to the big screen, setting the stage for the highly anticipated Culling Game arc. As the anime landscape shifts into this chaotic new era, fans looking to refresh their memories have plenty of pivotal moments to revisit before diving into the latest episodes. Polygon recently outlined the essential viewing list for anyone wanting a complete refresher on the complex political power shifts and curses driving the plot.
Key entries on the watchlist include Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which provides vital backstory for Yuta Okkotsu and explains his motives as he targets Yuji Itadori. Early foundational episodes, such as the second installment of the series, remain crucial for understanding how jujutsu society views Yuji as a vessel for Sukuna. Later arcs, including the Cursed Womb storyline and the introduction of Kento Nanami in Small Fry and Reverse Retribution, lay the heavy emotional and narrative groundwork that defines the trauma characters carry into season 3.
For communities gathered on Discord, Twitch, and local watch parties, these narrative deep dives are essential for tracking the sprawling lore. Understanding the nuances of techniques like Megumi's Ten Shadows or the blood ties of the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings helps elevate the viewing experience as the stakes reach an all-time high.
