Cassette Beasts 2002 Takes the Monster-Collecting Hit to Y2K London With Built-In Multiplayer

Bytten Studio and publisher Raw Fury have announced Cassette Beasts 2002, a sequel to the 2023 monster-collecting RPG, featuring Y2K London aesthetics, day-one multiplayer, and over 57,000 possible creature fusions across PC and consoles.

When Bytten Studio released Cassette Beasts in 2023, it proved that the monster-collecting genre still had room for fresh ideas. Instead of just chasing nostalgia, it brought sharp writing and a brilliant fusion mechanic to the table. Now, publisher Raw Fury and Bytten Studio are officially following up that success with Cassette Beasts 2002. As reported by Eurogamer, the sequel shifts its setting to early 2000s London and promises an adventure spanning two distinct worlds.

One of the most exciting upgrades for the sequel is the inclusion of multiplayer right from launch. The original game eventually added cooperative features, but building multiplayer into the core experience from day one signals a major shift for the franchise, opening the door for seamless co-op monster hunting across platforms. The trailer confirms that the game is heading to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch 2.

The mechanical core of the game is expanding in every direction as well. Developer notes indicate the fusion system will return with over 57,000 fully animated hybrid forms to discover. Players will also be able to recruit and romance 12 different companions, each bringing their own distinct gameplay perks and personal storylines to the table. While publisher Raw Fury has not yet dropped a specific release window, more details are slated to roll out over the coming months.
