Capcom is bringing six major modern Resident Evil games to the Nintendo Switch 2 as native ports complete with all DLC, moving past the unpopular cloud versions of the previous generation.
Capcom is making a massive push for Nintendo's new hardware by bringing six of the most recent entries in the Resident Evil franchise to the Nintendo Switch 2. During a recent Capcom Spotlight presentation, the publisher confirmed that players will finally get native versions of these modern horror titles. The original Nintendo Switch largely missed out on major modern releases, or relied on unpopular cloud versions that frustrated players who value true portability and offline play.
The rollout is already well underway. Resident Evil Requiem, alongside the Gold Editions of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, arrived on the system on launch day. The lineup expands further on October 16 with native releases for the Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and the Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition, complete with all previously released DLC and special eShop launch discounts running through November 7. Capcom is also planning physical releases via Game-Key Cards for these three upcoming titles early next year.
This robust support represents a major win for cross-platform players who prefer to experience massive single-player campaigns on handheld hardware. By utilizing the upgraded specs of the Switch 2, Capcom is avoiding the performance pitfalls that plagued earlier cloud streaming experiments. Looking ahead to 2027, the publisher has already confirmed that the upcoming Resident Evil Code Veronica remake will launch on the system simultaneously with other platforms, cementing the platform as a serious destination for survival horror fans.
