Activision is adding an Operator Toggle to Call of Duty: Warzone in Season 1, allowing players to hide flashy crossover skins and replace them with standard military models.
Call of Duty: Warzone is introducing a feature that many players have requested for years. According to a recent Activision blog post, an upcoming setting called the Operator Toggle will launch during Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. When enabled, this filter replaces overly flashy crossover skins, such as celebrity bundles and animated characters, with standard Modern Warfare 4 operator models for everyone in your lobby and match. The toggle will initially be restricted to Warzone, with no current plans to bring the feature to traditional multiplayer modes.
While this gives players a way to clean up the visual aesthetic of their matches, Activision also confirmed that the game's Carry Forward system is returning. Players will still be able to access their previously purchased arsenals and legacy operators spanning from Modern Warfare II up to Black Ops 7. Legacy weapons will be accessible through a dedicated tab in Warzone, featuring pre-set attachment configurations since custom Gunsmith loadouts will not be supported for older gear.
Infinity Ward has indicated that future collaborations for Modern Warfare 4 will lean toward grounded designs that fit the narrative framework of the game. Rival franchises like Battlefield have previously adjusted their cosmetic roadmaps due to the community backlash surrounding overly eccentric skins in tactical shooters. Offering a visual filter gives developers the flexibility to keep selling high-profile crossover cosmetics while letting players who prefer a traditional military aesthetic opt out of seeing them.
