Call of Duty: Warzone Is Finally Adding a Toggle to Hide Crossover and Goofy Skins

Call of Duty: Warzone is adding a client-side toggle to hide goofy crossover skins and replace them with standard Modern Warfare 4 operators. The feature arrives in Season 1, addressing years of community feedback while preserving player inventory collections.

Call of Duty: Warzone is introducing a new setting that lets players hide the increasingly wild crossover and cartoon skins that have populated lobbies over the last few years. According to a recent Activision blog post and as reported by IGN South Africa, switching the new Operator Skin toggle on means you will only see standard Modern Warfare 4 Operators during matches, replacing any out-of-universe cosmetics for enemies, party members, and squadmates alike. Your own carefully curated loadouts and purchased cosmetics remain untouched, and the feature is turned off by default so players can choose their preferred visual experience.

This move comes in response to years of community pushback against what many fans dubbed the Fortnite-ification of the franchise. Following waves of crossover characters and irreverent bundles in recent titles, players made it clear they wanted a return to military simulation aesthetics. Activision noted that implementing this feature required new technology only available starting with Modern Warfare 4 Season 1, signaling a direct response to rising pressure from competitors and a vocal player base demanding a more grounded atmosphere.

Alongside the visual changes, Warzone is adjusting how legacy weapons function. While gear from past entries like Modern Warfare 2 through Black Ops 7 will remain accessible via a new Legacy tab in the Loadout menu, full Gunsmith customization for those older items will not be supported. Instead, players can drop in with pre-configured five-attachment base weapons and blueprints, ensuring the active weapon meta stays focused on the new release while still respecting the digital inventories players spent years building.
