Bungie Tweaks Marathon Inventory Rules to Ease the Grind for New Players

Bungie's latest update for Marathon increases consumable stack sizes and drop rates to make the extraction shooter more accessible for newcomers.

Bungie is making some smart quality of life adjustments to Marathon with the release of update 1.0.6.1. Extraction shooters are notoriously punishing for newcomers, and this latest patch aims to lower that steep entry barrier. The developer is focusing heavily on inventory management and consumable availability to keep players in the action longer without feeling constantly starved for basic survival gear.

The most notable change lets players stack six Depleted Patch Kits and Depleted Shield Charges in a single inventory slot, doubling the previous limit of three. On top of that, daily stock limits for both green Enhanced and blue Deluxe Sponsored Kits have been increased. Bungie is also tweaking drop rates so that Recruits drop these crucial healing and armor items much more frequently during matches.

While these tweaks might look minor on a patch note screen, they fundamentally change the moment-to-moment survival math on the battlefield. For a genre where inventory space dictates your entire risk and reward loop, giving players a bit more breathing room is a welcome shift. As reported by IGN South Africa, these adjustments show the team is actively listening to community feedback as the game continues to evolve.
