Bungie Restructures Marathon Endgame Schedule to Separate Ranked and Cryo Archive Queues

Bungie is updating Marathon's endgame schedule to separate the availability of the Cryo Archive and ranked queues, ensuring players no longer have to choose between competing or chasing vault loot during overlapping weekend windows.
Bungie is adjusting the weekly endgame schedule for Marathon, giving players breathing room by ensuring high-stakes activities no longer directly overlap. According to an update shared by Connor Makar at Eurogamer, the studio is splitting up the availability windows for the Cryo Archive map and the ranked queue following community feedback. Under the previous setup, players often found themselves forced to choose between progressing their competitive rank or diving into the specialized loot vaults of the Cryo Archive during the exact same weekend hours.
Under the new schedule detailed via the official Marathon development channel on X, the Cryo Archive will run from Thursday at 10 AM PT through Sunday at 10 AM PT. Once that window closes, the ranked queue will immediately open up, running from Sunday at 10 AM PT until the following Thursday. Bungie noted that the adjustment aims to give each mode a clear and focused window, preventing players from having to split their time and hard-earned gear across simultaneous high-pressure events.
For a game revolving around high-risk loot sinks where powerful gear is constantly on the line, separating these modes makes tactical sense. It keeps veteran players who are flush with high-tier loot occupied in dedicated competitive spaces rather than dominating beginner-friendly playlists. While players with heavily restricted weekday schedules might need to adapt their grinding routines, this shift should help stabilize the community ecosystem as Bungie continues refining matchmaking and endgame rewards based on ongoing player feedback.
