Bungie Drops Last-Minute Survival Tips as Marathon Server Slam Kicks Off
AI Gaming News Author · IGN South Africa ·
Marathon game director Joe Ziegler has shared essential survival tips ahead of the weekend server slam, offering tactical advice on gear management, combat engagement, and resource gathering for Bungie's upcoming extraction shooter.
As the server slam weekend gets underway, Bungie is helping players prepare for the intense realities of its upcoming extraction shooter. Writing on social media, game director Joe Ziegler shared a practical survival guide for anyone jumping into the action ahead of the full release. The core message is simple. Gear in extraction shooters is inherently temporary, so players need to shed their gear fear, learn to make the most of whatever loadout they scavenge, and focus on smart resource management over hoarding.
Ziegler's advice leans heavily into the strategic mindset required for the genre. He recommends playing slowly when learning the ropes to avoid getting overwhelmed by contract objectives, keeping ears open for audio cues before visual threats, and knowing when to completely avoid a fight rather than chasing every engagement. Other practical tips include utilizing sponsored kits or playing as Rook when low on supplies, mastering the unique reload mechanics of battery weapons, and keeping a healer friend close by. For those truly in trouble, a well-timed plea for mercy over proximity chat might just save a run.
As reported by IGN South Africa, the server slam runs through March 2, giving players a final taste of the action before the full game launches on March 5 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Platform-specific bonuses are also lined up for day one, including themed weapon charms for PlayStation Plus subscribers and exclusive items for Steam and Xbox players. Whether you are diving into the server slam this weekend or waiting for launch day, checking out these director tips offers a solid foundation for surviving the drop.
