Arctic Hazard details the history, motion capture, and map design behind Norse: Oath of Blood in a new developer diary ahead of its February PC launch.
The team at Arctic Hazard is pulling back the curtain on how they are bringing Viking-era history to life. In their latest developer diary, shared via IGN South Africa, the studio breaks down the world building behind Norse: Oath of Blood. The upcoming tactical game leans hard into historical grounding, showing off how motion capture performances and detailed map design combine to build an authentic setting for its Dark Age narrative.
Players step into the shoes of Gunnar, a young warrior seeking vengeance after a betrayal shatters his world. When the rival leader Steinarr Far-Spear murders his father and steals the high seat, Gunnar has to rebuild his forces, forge crucial alliances, and plan his tactical retaliation. It is a classic revenge story set against a brutal historical backdrop, giving turn-based strategy fans plenty of narrative stakes to chew on alongside the combat.
The countdown to release is almost over for PC players, with the game launching on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store on February 17, 2026. Console players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will not have to wait too much longer either, as the game is scheduled to drop on current-generation hardware later in the spring.
