Build Your Own PlayStation History with Lego's New 1,911-Piece Retro Set

Lego and Sony are teaming up for a 1,911-piece original PlayStation set featuring a spring-loaded lid and classic game dioramas, launching globally this October.

Lego is adding another heavy hitter to its growing lineup of brick-built gaming hardware, partnering with Sony for an official original PlayStation set. Launching this week as reported by Polygon, the 1,911-piece build captures the iconic gray console at a near one-to-one scale. It comes complete with a matching controller and a retail price of $179.99.

True to the playful nature of these adult targeted sets, the hardware hides a few surprises beneath the surface. Pressing the functioning open button on the front corner triggers a spring-loaded lid that reveals nostalgic brick dioramas paying tribute to 1997's Gran Turismo and 1999's Ape Escape, alongside a classic PlayStation logo build.

The release follows Lego's previous tributes to the NES, Atari 2600, and Sega Genesis, cementing these nostalgic display pieces as staple collector items for adult players. Early access begins on October 1 for Lego Insiders, with a wider public rollout following on October 4.
