Build Your Own Piece of History With the Upcoming Lego PlayStation Set

Sony and Lego are teaming up for an authentic 1:1 scale brick replica of the original PlayStation, featuring classic franchise dioramas and functional buttons.

During the latest Sony State of Play broadcast, a full 1:1 scale Lego replica of the original PlayStation was officially revealed as part of the brand's ongoing 30th-anniversary celebration. Comprising 1,911 pieces, the set features functional pressable buttons, an openable disc tray, and a buildable controller designed for dedicated collectors. As reported by Eurogamer, the kit also includes removable mini dioramas celebrating classic franchises like Ape Escape and Gran Turismo, giving longtime fans a heavy dose of nostalgia.

This release highlights a broader trend of gaming giants leaning into premium physical merchandise for adult collectors, following in the footsteps of Nintendo's long-running partnership with Lego and Microsoft's recent block-building collaborations. Beyond the nostalgia factor, the set includes several hidden easter eggs detailed on the official PlayStation Blog, making it a compelling display piece for gaming spaces and streaming backdrops alike.

The set launches via PlayStation Direct on October 1 for buyers in select regions, followed by a wider Lego Insiders and retail rollout on October 4. It will retail for $179.99 in the US, 159.99 euros in Europe, and 139.99 pounds in the UK. For players looking to deck out their setups further, the State of Play showcase also revealed limited-edition Grand Theft Auto 6 PS5 controllers arriving later this month.
