Build Sleek Sloops or Beastly Barges in ShipShaper, the New Chill Vessel Builder From Tomas Sala

Tomas Sala, creator of The Falconeer, has launched a free demo for ShipShaper, a chill boat-building sandbox that lets players sculpt custom vessels and even export them for 3D printing and modding.
If you have ever wanted to slap cannons at impractical angles onto a floating monstrosity, developer Tomas Sala has you covered. Known for atmospheric projects like The Falconeer and Bulwark, Sala is back with a new sandbox experiment called ShipShaper. As reported by Mark Warren over at Rock Paper Shotgun, the game gives players a bare template and lets them stretch and bend hulls into whatever nautical creation pops into their heads. Whether you are aiming for a refined frigate or a lopsided barge with exhausts poking out of random decks, the building process trades rigid grid systems for pure creative freedom.
The demo lets you slap together masts, oars, and anchors before dropping your absurd creation into a waterborne diorama for a proper photoshoot. The real standout detail here is how Sala plans to handle digital ownership and creation once the full version launches. According to early teasers, the complete game will feature an open creative license allowing players to use their custom ships in independent game development, board games, or modding projects. You will even be able to 3D print your digital vessels or import them directly into Bulwark.
While ShipShaper does not have a confirmed release date yet, the free demo is live right now on Steam. It is a quick and satisfying diversion for anyone who loves tinkering with modular design tools or just wants to spawn weird boats on a digital ocean. You can check out the original coverage and test out the demo yourself over on Rock Paper Shotgun.
