Global K-Pop powerhouse BTS is back in the cultural spotlight, and their latest release is catching the attention of film buffs and gamers alike. The group just dropped the official music video for their new track 2.0, which features a striking homage to one of the most famous sequences in cinematic history. Park Chan-wook’s legendary single-take hallway fight scene from Oldboy gets a stylish recreation, blending high-energy choreography with the gritty aesthetic of modern action cinema. IGN South Africa originally reported on the release, highlighting how the boy band bridges the gap between classic South Korean cinema and modern pop culture dominance.
For anyone who spends time in gaming spaces, the single-take corridor brawl is practically a foundational visual trope. We have seen this specific style of chaotic, close-quarters combat popularized across countless titles, from action RPGs to beat-em-ups where players fight their way through hordes of enemies in tight spaces. When mainstream music acts tap into these specific cinematic touchstones, it creates an immediate bridge for fans who appreciate the grit of interactive media and the flair of pop performance.
This kind of cross-pollination between music, film, and interactive culture is becoming standard for major artists looking to connect with a digitally native audience. BTS has always excelled at world-building across their music videos and comebacks, turning every single release into an event for their massive global community.
