A fresh trailer for the 2026 Street Fighter movie debuted at CinemaCon, showcasing a star-studded cast led by Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji, with community nods to prominent figures in the fighting game scene.
Video game adaptations are having a serious moment right now, and 2026 is shaping up to be a massive year for fighting game fans. Alongside Warner Bros continuing its Mortal Kombat reboot, Paramount Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have finally given us a real look at the upcoming Street Fighter movie. Debuting fresh footage at CinemaCon 2026, the trailer wastes no time leaning into fan nostalgia, even opening with the iconic countdown timer sound effects from the arcade cabinets. As reported by IGN South Africa, the production is aiming to wash away the bitter taste left by previous cinematic attempts and actually deliver a fun, faithful translation of Capcom's legendary roster.
At the center of the narrative are franchise mainstays Ryu and Ken Masters, played by Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo respectively. According to the trailer breakdown from IGN, the film leans hard into the classic dynamic between the two martial arts rivals who trained under Gouken. While Ryu remains completely consumed by the pursuit of perfecting his craft, Ken brings that familiar freewheeling energy that has defined his character since the original 1987 arcade release. It is a smart anchor for an ensemble cast pulling fighters from all across the global circuit.
Beyond the central duo, the trailer also drops some fun surprises for longtime community members, including appearances by prominent fighting game figures like Justin Wong, IFC Yipes, and Maximilian Dood. Whether this adaptation can finally break the historic curse of live action video game movies remains to be seen, but the early signs point to an experience that actually understands the source material.
