Borderlands 4 Readies Its First Major Story Pack With Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned

Borderlands 4 is launching its first major story expansion, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, on March 26. The update introduces a new playable rogue character named C4SH, a fresh map zone, and a massive arsenal of new gear.

Gearbox Software is preparing to launch the first major story expansion for Borderlands 4, titled Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. According to reporting by Polygon, the new content drops on Thursday, March 26, at 4 p.m. EDT. Players who picked up the Super Deluxe Edition or the Vault Hunter Pack will have immediate access, while others can purchase the expansion as a standalone add-on. This release marks the first full narrative expansion for the fourth mainline entry since it launched last year.

The centerpiece of this update is C4SH, a brand new playable rogue character built around a heavy gambler aesthetic. The character utilizes an Action Skill called Sleight of Hand, which draws random cards from a deck to trigger various spells and combat effects during chaotic gunfights. Beyond the roster addition, the expansion introduces a new map zone called The Whispering Glacier. Developer 2K recommends players hit level 13 and complete the A Lot to Process mission in the Fadefields before tackling the new area.

True to the franchise formula, the update loads up the loot pool with 18 pieces of Legendary gear, three Pearlescent weapons, two major boss fights, and 16 minibosses. Players will also find a massive collection of new cosmetic options for weapons, vehicles, and vault hunters.
