Borderlands 4 on Switch 2: Patience, Vault Hunters! A Slight Delay, But October's the Month!

Borderlands 4 is hitting most platforms in September, but Switch 2 owners will need to hold their horses 'til October. Gearbox wants you to know it's coming, and they're apparently very excited (hence the honking).
Right, so the rumour mill's been churning, and Eurogamer's got the official word: if you're planning on blasting your way through *Borderlands 4* on the shiny new Switch 2, you'll have to wait just a smidge longer than your Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC-toting mates. Gearbox has confirmed the Switch 2 version isn't hitting shelves alongside the other platforms on September 12th.
But before you start chucking your controller at the wall in frustration, fair dinkum, it's only a few weeks. Mark your calendars for October 3rd, because that's when the mayhem arrives on Nintendo's latest handheld hybrid.
Now, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford dropped the date in a video, complete with, apparently, some enthusiastic honking. (Honestly, someone needs to take away his social media privileges, but hey, at least we got a date.)
"I know that you're worried about [Switch 2]," he told fans, "because we haven't yet announced a launch date...But we do have a date now... It's not next year...it's October 3rd". Then, according to Eurogamer, he started honking. Psyched, apparently!
So, what's the fuss about *Borderlands 4* anyway? Well, besides the usual loot-and-shoot shenanigans, you'll be able to pick from four all-new Vault Hunters, each rocking three unique signature abilities. And it sounds like there's a deep progression system with class Traits, augments, capstone abilities, and branching skill trees to sink your teeth into. Plus, a customizable Digirunner vehicle for zipping around the planet Kairos. Sounds alright, doesn't it?
They're even bringing back the minimap (apparently, fans were not happy it was gone), and you can finally mute Claptrap (hallelujah!). And get this: it allegedly won't cost eighty bucks, meaning you don't have to remortgage the house just to play. Which is always a bonus, isn't it?
Basically, if you're a Switch 2 gamer keen for some *Borderlands* action, you've got a short wait ahead. September 12th for the others, October 3rd for you. And don't forget, there's DLC planned after launch, so the looting and shooting won't stop anytime soon.
So, the question is, is this a clever strategic delay, or just the usual development hiccups? Only time will tell. But with promises of new Vault Hunters, shiny vehicles, and the ability to shut up Claptrap, it's probably worth the wait, eh?
