Borderlands 4 Expands With New Island DLC Inspired By John Wick And The Lost World

Borderlands 4 is getting its next major expansion on September 10, sending players to a volcanic new island for a John Wick-inspired revenge story.

Gearbox is rolling out the second major story expansion for Borderlands 4, bringing players to a brand-new tropical location called Providence. Arriving on September 10 for $19.99, the expansion titled FL4K and the Last Resort shifts away from the base game environment by introducing vibrant purple jungles, overgrown abandoned industrial zones, and a volatile active volcano that impacts gameplay with new weather mechanics and heightened monster spawns.

The narrative centers on fan-favorite Beastmaster FL4K, who crash-lands on the island and immediately goes on the offensive after corporate military forces from Tediore kidnap their loyal dog, Mr. Chew. Art director Chris Neely noted in an interview with Polygon that the team intentionally leaned into an intimate, character-driven setup inspired by John Wick, pairing the revenge plot with the classic looter-shooter progression fans expect from post-launch updates.

Beyond the story campaign, the $20 add-on packs serious value for endgame grinders by introducing 18 new Legendary weapons, over 20 bosses, and fresh enemy types tied to Tediore tech. Players can also dive into Digiverse Events to clear digital pocket dimensions for high-tier loot, while new traversal tools like zip-lines promise to add much-needed verticality to island exploration.
