Gearbox has announced that Borderlands 3 fan favorite FL4K is returning in Borderlands 4 DLC Story Pack 2, titled FL4K and the Last Resort, launching on September 10 alongside new character Loveless the Hacker.
Gearbox has officially confirmed that fan favorite Vault Hunter FL4K is making their return to the franchise in the upcoming Borderlands 4 DLC story pack. Scheduled to launch on September 10, the new content drop is titled FL4K and the Last Resort and will introduce a brand new playable character named Loveless the Hacker alongside the returning Beastmaster. According to the teaser trailer shared by the official Borderlands account, FL4K is heading to Kairos on a rescue mission to find their missing companion, Mr. Chew. With FL4K rejoining the roster, Moze is now the only playable Vault Hunter from Borderlands 3 who has yet to make an appearance in this latest entry.
This upcoming release follows the March debut of the first story pack, which featured Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned alongside the new Vault Hunter C4SH. While that initial content was generally well received for its gameplay, it also sparked plenty of community debate regarding its pricing relative to its short runtime. Players are naturally keeping a close eye on Gearbox to see if the studio adjusts its price to playtime ratio for this second drop. As live service models and premium expansions continue to shape how we invest our time and money in long running franchises, value for players remains a top priority for the community.
Originally debuting in Borderlands 3 as a choice for solo and co op players alike, FL4K carved out a massive following thanks to unique pet mechanics that allowed the Beastmaster to command Skags, Jabbers, and Spiderants in combat. Bringing that companion focused playstyle into the newer engine and world of Borderlands 4 gives veteran players a strong reason to jump back in.
