Bob Odenkirk and writer Derek Kolstad discuss their upcoming action-comedy film Normal, detailing its character-driven chaos and unhinged small-town setting in an interview with IGN South Africa.
Bob Odenkirk is continuing his journey as an unlikely action lead, teaming up with John Wick writer Derek Kolstad for a new project titled Normal. IGN South Africa recently caught up with Odenkirk, Kolstad, and producer Marc Provissiero to discuss the film. They broke down the dark comedy, explosive surprises, and the genuinely unhinged small-town setting that drives the narrative forward. While movie projects do not always translate directly into the interactive space, the DNA of this creative team holds massive appeal for gamers who love tight, relentless pacing and grounded storytelling.
Kolstad is well known for crafting intricate criminal underworlds and meticulous action choreography, a style that has heavily influenced modern video game narratives and third-person shooters over the last decade. Pair that kinetic vision with Odenkirk's knack for playing bruised, underestimated everyman protagonists, and you get a formula that feels right at home for fans of gritty action epics. The interview highlights how the team focused on character-driven stakes rather than just mindless spectacle, ensuring the audience invests deeply in the chaos.
As entertainment increasingly blends across mediums, with major cinematic universes bleeding into gaming tie-ins and streaming creators frequently reacting to the latest thriller drops, projects like Normal capture the exact kind of high-tension storytelling that dominates our collective feeds. Whether you are watching breakdown videos on YouTube or waiting for the next big gritty adaptation to hit your screen, this creative powerhouse is definitely one to keep on your radar. Check out the full discussion over at IGN South Africa to hear directly from the creators on what makes this town anything but ordinary.
