Bloodborne is Finally Getting a New Official Release in 2027, But It is Not the One You Wanted

Sony has confirmed an official Bloodborne release for 2027 in the form of an adult animated film, leaving fans still waiting for a game remaster or PC port.

For years, the gaming community has waited for Sony and FromSoftware to give Bloodborne the remaster, sequel, or PC port it so desperately deserves. While a proper interactive return to Yharnam remains locked away on PlayStation hardware at 30 FPS, Game Rant reports that a brand new official Bloodborne release is officially confirmed for 2027. Before anyone gets their hopes up for a 60 FPS patch or a Bluepoint remake, the catch is that this new release is actually an adult animated feature film from Sony Pictures, created in collaboration with prominent content creator jacksepticeye and Lyrical Animation.

Video game adaptations are enjoying a massive cultural moment right now across streaming and cinema. Because of that success, this animated project has plenty of potential to deliver a faithful take on the game's grim Lovecraftian horror. Alongside the movie, fans with deep pockets can also pre-order a pricey themed umbrella from Super Groupies that draws inspiration from the game's Childhood's Beginning ending, with delivery slated for mid-April 2027.

It is hard not to feel a bit cynical about how Sony handles one of its most acclaimed properties. Fans continue to beg for basic modernization like a PC port or a current gen console upgrade, yet they are met with high-end merchandise and cinematic spinoffs instead. Until FromSoftware or PlayStation decides to revisit the actual source code, the community will just have to keep the flame alive through events like Return to Yharnam and hope that future releases finally address what players have been asking for since 2015.
