BlizzCon 2026 Delivers Major Reveals Including Diablo 5 and a New StarCraft Shooter

BlizzCon 2026 featured major announcements including Diablo 5, a new open-world StarCraft shooter, World of Warcraft: Forever, and fresh updates across the studio's major franchises.

BlizzCon 2026 opened with a massive lineup of announcements, highlighted by the surprise confirmation of Diablo 5, slated for a 2029 release, and a brand new open-world StarCraft shooter led by veteran developer Dan Hay coming in 2030. Blizzard also revealed World of Warcraft: Forever, a permanent, community-focused take on vanilla content launching this November alongside a beta test starting next week. The studio rounded out the opening ceremony with news of a Warcraft 3 campaign expansion, a Diablo animated series at Netflix, and even a new hero for Heroes of the Storm.

World of Warcraft news dominated much of the showcase, with Vice President Holly Longdale detailing World of Warcraft: Forever as a fresh home for players that will live alongside modern and classic servers. The experience caps character progression at level 60 with a heavy focus on the journey rather than the destination, featuring new dungeons, raids, and the Skyborne playable race. Additionally, Ian Hazzikostas offered a glimpse at The Last Titan, the upcoming 2027 conclusion to the sprawling Worldsoul Saga.

Beyond Azeroth and Sanctuary, the event brought updates across Blizzard's entire ecosystem. Diablo 4 is heading to the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside a new season and the future addition of the classic Amazon class, while Diablo Immortal prepares for a surprise crossover with Spawn. Overwatch 2 introduced a vampire-inspired support hero named Doctrine, and Hearthstone confirmed a 2v2 mode and the arrival of the Monk class in 2027.
