Blizzard Nerfs Overwatch Phenomenon Jet Pack Cat in New Hotfix

Blizzard has released a hotfix for Overwatch to nerf Jet Pack Cat, increasing cooldowns and reducing damage perks following weeks of player complaints.
Overwatch matches have been a little more chaotic lately thanks to the unexpected dominance of Jet Pack Cat, but relief is finally here. According to a report by IGN South Africa, Blizzard dropped a fresh hotfix on February 24 aimed squarely at toning down the feline fighter's lethal effectiveness. For the last couple of weeks, players across PC and console queues have tried to escape the flying menace, making this balancing pass a welcome sight for anyone tired of getting scratched to pieces on the backline.
The hotfix focuses heavily on trimming the character's offensive perks rather than touching her base healing output or core kit. Specifically, the minor perk Claws Out now has its cooldown increased from six to eight seconds, giving opponents a bit more breathing room between attacks. Meanwhile, the major perk Territorial saw a massive drop in damage from 50% down to 33%. Blizzard left the Ultimate ability completely untouched for now, which means players still need to watch their positioning near environmental hazards.
Veteran players are already pointing out the historical irony here since Jet Pack Cat is closely tied to Brigitte, a hero who completely broke the meta upon her 2018 debut. While this furry combatant is not quite as oppressive as launch Brigitte, introducing five new characters at once always spells trouble for game balance. We will have to see if these adjustments are enough to settle the meta, or if more trips to the virtual vet are required in upcoming patches.
