Bethesda Game Studios reveals a massive future roadmap featuring The Elder Scrolls 6, a preproduction phase for Fallout 5 on Creation Engine 3, a new Fallout game from Obsidian, and multiple remaster projects.
Bethesda Game Studios has pulled back the curtain on its long term plans, confirming major details regarding some of the most anticipated titles in modern gaming. In a comprehensive roadmap shared by IGN South Africa, the studio outlined its current production pipeline as parent company Xbox refocuses on its powerhouse franchises. Todd Howard and his team remain heavily focused on The Elder Scrolls 6, which was originally announced back in 2018 and is reportedly still a couple of years away from reaching our screens. Beyond Tamriel, the studio confirmed that Fallout 5 is officially in preproduction and will utilize a shared tech pipeline built on the new Creation Engine 3.
The broader Bethesda slate also includes exciting news for fans of classic RPGs, with several remaster projects in the works alongside a brand new Fallout game from Obsidian. This collaborative approach makes complete sense given the massive resurgence of the Fallout IP following recent streaming adaptations and cross-platform community growth. By tapping Obsidian to return to the wasteland while Bethesda handles the core numbered entries, Xbox is clearly positioning these universes as year round entertainment mainstays rather than isolated single player releases.
Of course, looking this far ahead requires a healthy dose of realism, especially given the turbulent industry landscape and recent structural shifts across major publishers. Players are right to keep expectations grounded while waiting years for concrete gameplay footage, but knowing the pipeline is structured around shared engine tech brings some much needed clarity. For a community that treats these sprawling open worlds as digital second homes, this roadmap finally offers a clear view of where our time and investment are heading over the next decade.
