Michael B. Jordan and director Christopher McQuarrie are pitching a Battlefield movie adaptation to major studios, bringing EA's massive shooter franchise to Hollywood hot on the heels of Battlefield 6 breaking sales records.
Hollywood is officially coming for EA's flagship military shooter. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Michael B. Jordan and Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie are teaming up to develop and pitch a Battlefield movie adaptation to major studios like Apple and Sony Pictures. McQuarrie is attached to write, direct, and produce the project, while Jordan will produce and potentially star alongside Electronic Arts as a producer. Specific plot details remain under wraps, but the creative pairing brings serious action pedigree to a franchise known for chaotic multiplayer sandbox moments.
This announcement arrives right on the heels of Activision and Paramount locking in a release date for a live action Call of Duty film, setting up a familiar rivalry on the silver screen. It also follows a massive year for the franchise itself, as Circana data revealed that Battlefield 6 claimed the crown as the best selling game of 2025 in the United States. That milestone marked the first time the series topped yearly sales charts over its long-standing competitor, proving the IP is operating at peak momentum just as Hollywood comes knocking.
Video game adaptations are enjoying a massive renaissance, with studios racing to turn massive interactive properties into cinematic universes. From Minecraft and Mario to upcoming projects based on Death Stranding and Elden Ring, game IP has become the most valuable currency in entertainment. Translating a sandbox multiplayer game like Battlefield into a cohesive narrative film is a unique challenge, but with McQuarrie's knack for elaborate set pieces and Jordan's action movie chops, fans might finally get the large scale military spectacle the franchise has always deserved.
