Battlefield 6 Drops a Free Trial Right as Modern Warfare 4 Enters Beta

Battlefield 6 has launched a free trial timed directly against the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta, giving players a chance to test both shooters alongside a new Top Gun crossover event.

Battlefield Studios has launched a new free trial for Battlefield 6, arriving right alongside the mid-season update for Season 4. As reported by Eurogamer, the timing lines up directly with the upcoming beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. This strategic scheduling continues a long-running tradition of counter-programming between the two massive shooter franchises, following similar scheduling chess moves over the past year.

For players trying to figure out their weekend plans, the trial runs until August 25 and overlaps completely with the first weekend of the Modern Warfare 4 beta. This gives the community a chance to check out both experiences without having to choose immediately. The timing is competitive, but it works out well for players who want to sample what both titles are currently offering.

Beyond the free access, the timing coincides with the rollout of the long-awaited Top Gun crossover event. New players jumping into the trial will get full access to Season 4 maps and the Carrier Strike mode, which features dedicated Top Gun content. Combined with the Fighter Sweep mode already available in Battlefield 6 Redsec, the entire crossover package is completely accessible for anyone logging in during the event.
