Avowed Anniversary Update Adds New Races, Quarterstaffs, and New Game Plus

Avowed's anniversary update is live, bringing three new playable races, the new quarterstaff weapon class, New Game Plus, and a photo mode to Obsidian's fantasy RPG.

Obsidian is rolling out a major anniversary update for Avowed that brings several heavily requested features and character options to the table. Originally slated for late last year before seeing a brief delay, this fresh patch introduces three brand-new playable races alongside the existing human and elf options. Players can now create characters as dwarves, orlans, and aumaua, each bringing distinct stat modifiers and roleplaying potential to the table. Dwarves pull bonuses to might and constitution, orlans favor perception and resolve, and the imposing aumaua lean heavily into brute force with a plus two to might.

Beyond character creation, the update introduces a brand-new weapon class for magic users who prefer something a bit more substantial than a standard wand or tome. The newly added quarterstaff functions as a heavy bludgeoning tool complete with unique wand-style stun finishers. It pairs especially well with the game's shorter stature races, opening up fun build possibilities for players looking to pilot an aggressive, spell-slinging brawler through the Living Lands.

Alongside new character builds and the quarterstaff addition, the update finally introduces a much-anticipated New Game Plus mode and a dedicated photo mode. These additions give returning players a strong incentive to spin up a new run and test out different stat combinations.
