August's PS Plus Games: Lies of P Steals the Show (and Maybe Your Soul)

Sony revealed the August PS Plus lineup, highlighted by the soulslike *Lies of P*, alongside *DayZ* and *My Hero One's Justice 2*. Plus, free 15th anniversary avatars featuring characters from various big games are also up for grabs.

Right, so Sony's just dropped the deets on August's PS Plus freebies, and fair dinkum, there's a banger in the mix. Eurogamer's already put the word out, and it's worth a squiz. We're talking *Lies of P*, *DayZ*, and *My Hero One's Justice 2*. Now, while I reckon anime arena fighters have their place, and surviving the zombie apocalypse is always a laugh (sort of), *Lies of P* is the headline act here.

*Lies of P* is that Pinocchio-gone-grimdark soulslike that's been turning heads. We're talking Victorian-era aesthetics, clockwork enemies, and a combat system that'll make you question your sanity (in a good way, mostly). If you're into *Bloodborne* or *Dark Souls*, this is definitely one to snag. Round 8 Studio, those clever devils from South Korea, cooked up something special with this one. It even got some DLC called *Overture*, though it sounds like that won't be a part of the free deal, unfortunately.

Then we've got *DayZ*, which is, well, *DayZ*. It's been around the block a few times, this post-apocalyptic multiplayer survival sim. If you're into scavenging for beans while trying not to get murdered by other players (or zombies, naturally), then knock yourself out. It's got that certain something that keeps people coming back for more pain. Or, you know, beans.

And finally, there's *My Hero One's Justice 2*. If you're a fan of the My Hero Academia manga/anime, this 3D arena fighter might be right up your alley. I reckon it's worth a go if you're after some over-the-top, anime-inspired fisticuffs.

But before you get too excited, remember that means Diablo 4, Jusant and King of Fighters 15 are on their way out. So make sure you download those before August 5th.

Speaking of shiny distractions, Sony's also chucking out some free 15th-anniversary avatars, featuring characters from the likes of *Cyberpunk 2077*, *Hogwarts Legacy*, *Diablo 4*, *God of War Ragnarök*, and even *Twisted Metal*. I've included a link above to the official Playstation blog for full details of this.

So there you have it. A solid month for PS Plus subscribers, especially if you're itching to get your soulslike on. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to figure out how to mod a clockwork arm onto my controller. Wish me luck!
