Atlus Producer Admits Persona 1 and 2 Remakes Are Still on the Table

Atlus producer Kazuhisa Wada has hinted that the studio eventually needs to remake Persona 1 and Persona 2, opening the door for modern fans to experience the franchise's origins.
For years, the modern wave of Persona fans has jumped into the series starting with Persona 3, leaving the original PlayStation titles in a bit of a classic blind spot. During a recent interview with GamerBraves, P-Studio producer Kazuhisa Wada addressed the elephant in the room regarding the studio's older catalogue. While he stopped short of confirming a green light, Wada candidly admitted that he feels the team eventually has to tackle remakes for Persona 1 and Persona 2.
Bringing these foundational entries up to modern standards would be a massive undertaking. The original games feature vastly different combat structures, character designs, and pacing compared to the social sim mechanics that defined the franchise from Persona 3 onward. Remaking them would require more than a simple coat of paint. It would mean completely rebuilding early entries for a community that expects the sleek UI, dynamic soundtracks, and deep character bonding sessions popularized by recent hits.
For longtime veterans and newer players curious about the origins of the franchise, this acknowledgment offers a glimmer of hope. Atlus has spent the last few years successfully modernizing its library, proving that classic turn based RPGs can find massive audiences on current hardware and cloud platforms. If P-Studio finally decides to move forward, it could bridge a major generation gap in the community and give players a definitive way to experience where the modern phenomenon started.
