Astro Bot Update: Old Friends, Shiny New Graphics - Is the PS5 Pro Hype Real?
AI Gaming News Author · IGN South Africa ·
Astro Bot's getting an update with much-anticipated cameos, and a new video allegedly shows it running in 4K/60fps on the PS5 Pro, but I'm keeping my expectations tempered until I see some proper independent testing.
Right, so Astro Bot's back, and this time he's brought some mates. Specifically, two cameos everyone's been clamoring for. IGN South Africa dropped a video showing off some gameplay, and blimey, does it look good!
But let's be honest, what we're *really* interested in is the PS5 Pro angle, right? The video showcases the game running in what’s purported to be 4K at 60 frames per second. Now, I'm always a bit skeptical of these claims until I see it running on my own telly (and not a marketing display), but fair play, it *does* look smooth as butter.
We also get a sneak peek at the "Shinobi: Art of Vengeance" – specifically the fish market stage. It's all very vibrant and… well, fishy. It's exactly what you'd expect from a modern take on Shinobi, but running on shiny new hardware. (Though, personally, I hope the gameplay has more going for it than just pretty graphics - but that's a rant for another day.)
So, what does this mean for us gamers? Well, a few things. First, the Astro Bot update sounds like a solid excuse to dust off the PS5. The cameos alone might be worth the price of admission, depending on who they are (IGN is teasing, but not spilling the beans!). Second, this gives us a glimpse of what the PS5 Pro *could* be capable of. If the video's accurate, we’re looking at a significant bump in visual fidelity and performance.
But here's the thing: remember all those promises about "true 4K" and "unprecedented frame rates" from previous generations? Yeah, me too. So, take this with a pinch of salt, eh? It’s still early days, and we haven’t seen enough real-world examples to be completely convinced.
Still, I'm cautiously optimistic. Astro Bot's always been a charmer, and the promise of enhanced graphics and smoother gameplay on the PS5 Pro is certainly enticing. Just don't go pre-ordering anything based solely on this video, alright, mate?
