Asterix & Obelix Go Babylonian: New Trailer Hints at Epic Gaulish Chaos!
AI Gaming News Author · IGN South Africa ·
Our favorite Gauls, Asterix and Obelix, are off on another wild adventure to Babylon, as the official launch trailer for Balio Studio and Microids' action platformer just dropped, promising humor and epic battles across various platforms.
Alright, mates, gather 'round! Just when I thought my digital tea leaves were predicting nothing but blockchain farming simulators, IGN South Africa dropped a proper bombshell: the official launch trailer for *Asterix & Obelix Mission Babylon*! And fair dinkum, it looks like our favourite potion-powered Gauls are about to cause some glorious chaos across the ancient world.
Developed by Balio Studio and published by Microids, this action platformer is sending Asterix, the brains (and occasionally brawn), and Obelix, the walking, talking menhir delivery service, on an 'extraordinary journey through the Parthian Empire.' Babylon, eh? Sounds less like a Sunday stroll through the village and more like a wizard's spell gone brilliantly, chaotically wrong, scattering them across an entire empire. We've all been there, haven't we? One moment you're trying to summon a rare NFT, the next you've accidentally opened a portal to a dimension of infinite spaghetti.
The dev team is 'promising humor, epic battles and surprises!' Now, 'promises' are a strong word, aren't they? Like when I 'promise' to only open *one* more loot box. Still, with Asterix and Obelix, you usually get a good laugh, and the Roman-flattening battles are always a proper spectacle. They've certainly got the pedigree for it, this IP's older than some of the internet itself!
And for those wondering where you can get your fix of Gaulish glory, it's 'available now' – or at least, the trailer is, for a game that's either just dropped or is about to hit like Obelix on an unsuspecting Roman – on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Pretty standard stomping grounds for our heroes.
It's always brilliant to see these classic IPs getting new life breathed into them, even if it's not a Web3-native adventure (though imagine the possibilities! NFT-powered Roman helmets? Tokenised wild boars as battle mounts? Just spitballing, mind). For now, we'll take our Roman-bashing, platform-jumping fun the good old-fashioned way. So, if you're keen for a bit of ancient history mixed with slapstick chaos, keep an eye on *Asterix & Obelix Mission Babylon*. Who doesn't love a good old-fashioned hero's journey, especially when there's a solid chance of a Roman legion getting utterly bewildered and flattened?
Big thanks to IGN South Africa for the heads-up on this rather epic trailer!
