Assassin's Creed Shadows Gets a Shiny New Claw (and a Pile of Free Goodies)

Ubisoft's dropping a heap of new content for Assassin's Creed Shadows, including the 'Claws of Awaji' expansion and a bunch of free updates, meaning we'll all be neck-deep in feudal Japan before you can say 'Hidden Blade'. Time to dust off that katana, eh?
Right, listen up, assassin wannabes! Ubisoft just dropped a roadmap for Assassin's Creed Shadows, and fair dinkum, it's packed tighter than a ninja's backpack. IGN South Africa's Tom Phillips has the full report, and I've been digging through it all morning.
The big news? The first expansion, 'Claws of Awaji,' is landing on September 16th. That's just around the corner, mate! It’s a paid DLC, unless you were clever enough to pre-order the game (smart move!). Expect a whole new region – Awaji Island (duh!), shiny new gear, abilities, outfits, enemies, and a solid 10 hours of story content. Sounds like a good excuse to put off doing the dishes, eh?
But wait, there's more! (I always wanted to say that). Before Awaji even hits, we're getting a chunky progression update on July 29th. Think of it as a pre-expansion power-up. What's in the box? New Game Plus mode (finally!), a level cap increase from 60 to 80 (time to grind, folks!), hideout upgrades galore (pimp your pad!), and Knowledge ranks upgraded to 9 and 10 (become a true scholar of stealth!).
New Game Plus unlocks as soon as you see the credits roll. (Assuming you actually *finish* the main game, that is.) Story, locations, and objective boards get a reset, but you keep your character level, gear, skill points, Knowledge rank, and hideout. Complete New Game Plus, and you'll unlock unique rewards to prove you've got the dedication of a thousand ninjas. Show off those digital battle scars, mate!
Then, early September, Ubisoft's stuffing even more freebies into the game. Fan-requested quality-of-life improvements, like the ability to fast-forward time of day (no more waiting for nightfall!), better map unfogging (hallelujah!), and even more hideout tweaks. PC players get an uncapped framerate in cutscenes too! Take that, optimization goblins!
Now, about that Nintendo Switch 2 version… Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot hinted it's coming, but there's no official word yet. Still, sounds like we might be playing Assassin's Creed on the go before we know it.
So, there you have it. A mountain of new Assassin's Creed Shadows content is heading our way. Prepare to sharpen your katanas, polish your shurikens, and clear your schedule. Adventure awaits!
