Asa Germann has officially joined the cast of Marvel's upcoming X-Men film as Angel, following an impressive audition process that initially targeted the role of Cyclops.
Marvel Studios has filled another major role for the upcoming X-Men film, tapping Gen V and Scream 7 star Asa Germann to play Warren Worthington III, better known as Angel. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Germann originally auditioned for the role of Cyclops, which ultimately went to Kit Connor. Marvel executives were apparently impressed enough during the process to keep him on board and shift him over to the iconic winged mutant instead.
At 28 years old, Germann joins a notably youthful principal cast that already includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Inde Navarrette as Rogue. The wider ensemble features recognizable heavy hitters like Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier, and Adam Driver stepping in as the primary antagonist, Mister Sinister.
Germann is no stranger to the superhero genre, having previously made a strong impression as Sam Riordan in Amazon's The Boys spinoff series, Gen V. While superhero film adaptations rarely tie directly into interactive media outside of traditional tie-in games and skins, a high-profile casting lineup like this practically guarantees we will see these iterations of the characters dominating battle passes and crossover events across our favorite live service titles once the movie hits theaters.
