Archie Andrews is Heading Straight for the Underworld in a New Horror Comic

Archie Comics and Oni Press are launching a new horror comic titled Archie in Hell, sending the classic character into the underworld after a cult targets him for a demonic sacrifice.

Riverdale's ultimate good guy has survived quite a bit over the decades, ranging from zombie outbreaks to encounters with the Predator. Now, Oni Press and Archie Comics are taking the iconic character even further into dark territory with a brand new series titled Archie in Hell. Set to debut on November 4, 2026, the project arrives just in time to celebrate the publisher's 85th anniversary. As reported by Polygon, the creative team features Eisner Award nominee Patrick Horvath on writing duties and Russ Manning Award winner Tyler Crook handling art.

The story kicks off when a secret cult known as the Order of A'ldarax infiltrates Riverdale to orchestrate a human sacrifice that will summon a demon lord. Naturally, they set their sights on none of other than star athlete Archie Andrews. Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, real witches also walk the streets of the neighboring town of Greendale. Sabrina Spellman and her aunts discover the plot, leading to a massive clash between cultists and covens that ultimately drags Archie down into the cosmic depths of the underworld.

For fans of the publisher's darker output, this functions as a spiritual successor to the acclaimed Afterlife With Archie. The preview pages showcase Tyler Crook blending classic, nostalgic comic aesthetics with striking body horror. Readers looking to dive into this revamped era of the franchise can pick up the new flagship Archie title this September, followed by a new Sabrina the Teenage Witch series in October, before the descent into the underworld begins in November.
