Arc Raiders to Pause Expeditions Until 2027 Following Community Feedback

Embark Studios is putting Arc Raiders Expeditions on hiatus after the fifth run next month to work on a major overhaul, with the feature returning in early 2027.

Embark Studios has announced that the upcoming fifth Expedition for Arc Raiders, kicking off next month, will be the final run before a substantial hiatus extending into early 2027. According to a recent report by Eurogamer, the development team is taking a step back to address core community concerns such as restrictive departure windows, reward balancing, and onboarding friction for newer players. Rather than relying on incremental patches, Embark plans to use the extended downtime to overhaul the feature and tackle longstanding player pain points.

The final Expedition window opens on September 8 and runs for three weeks, offering a slightly extended timeframe compared to previous iterations. Notable quality of life changes for this final run include making quest progress resets strictly opt-in, extending bonus skill point caps, and ensuring that earned consecutive buffs will persist throughout the upcoming hiatus. Caravans will also be reset, with partially completed ones converting into Ermal Vouchers to protect player investment before the system goes offline.

While the pause gives the development team breathing room to rework the core experience, Trials are also taking a brief scheduled break ending in October. As extraction shooters continue to evolve as social hubs for cross-platform groups, developer transparency and willingness to listen to community pushback remain crucial for long-term player retention. We will keep an eye out for Embark's detailed roadmap regarding the 2027 relaunch when it drops in September.
