Arc Raiders Rolls Out Snowy Cold Snap Conditions and Flickering Flames Holiday Event

Arc Raiders is getting a festive update featuring the Cold Snap snow condition, the Flickering Flames gathering event, a free holiday Raider Deck, and the first character departure window.
Embark Studios is shaking up the extraction shooter routine for the holidays by bringing seasonal chills directly to the surface. Starting tomorrow, the Flickering Flames event goes live alongside a brand new environmental condition called Cold Snap. Players dropping into outdoor maps will find themselves navigating a blanket of snow that changes standard tactics. The new weather condition freezes water into dangerously unsteady ice, cuts down visibility, and introduces a frostbite mechanic that punishes raiders who linger too long under the open sky.
To combat the cold, the community needs to head out and forage for Candleberries and other sources of light and heat. Similar to previous hub unlocks, players will gather these resources in raids and deposit them back home to fuel underground warmth. Turning in these festive materials unlocks a steady stream of new cosmetics, weapons, and raider tokens to kit out your character. The event runs through January 13, giving everyone plenty of time to grab the limited rewards before they disappear from the rotation.
The update also sets the stage for major progression milestones as the year winds down. A free and permanent Goalie Raider Deck arrives on December 26, complete with a brand new hockey stick tool to round out your loadout. On top of that, December marks the opening of the very first departure window, allowing maxed out players to send their characters off into the wider world permanently in exchange for XP boosts and unique legacy rewards. As Connor Makar detailed over at Eurogamer, this update rounds out Embark Studios' initial post launch roadmap, leaving the door wide open for what 2026 holds for the extraction shooter.
